2B06- fNIRS Station

The fNIRS Station is equipped with the fNIR 1100 Stand-Alone Functional Brain Imaging System, used to study neurophysiological activity in the prefrontal cortex. Based on functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS), the system measures changes in the oxygenation level of hemoglobin, the molecule that carries oxygen to tissue, offering a window into brain activity as it happens. Researchers use this technology to explore attention, working memory, executive function, decision-making, cognitive load, and emotion regulation.
The station includes an experiment room where the device is used, a control room for monitoring data and running the session, and a comfortable waiting area for participants. The control room is fully equipped with the computers and software needed for experiment design and data analysis. Here, our students and researchers gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge neuroimaging tools in cognitive neuroscience research.
